The old GT500 did it in 7:39 and was a pig widely acknowledged for being unable to turn unless magnetically drawn to a crowd. Evo magazine has reported that the GT350R lapped the g reen h ell in 7:32.19.
However, in C ar and D river’ s lightning lap annual test, the GT350R ran a 2:51.8 against the GT500's 3:04. The top end pull off the GT500 obviously made up for its lack of cornering prowess on the r ing.
Any speculation on the new GT500's ring time? I’m thinking 7:10 range.

I think even faster. The old S197 platform is an oxcart compared to the current one. Factor in an additional 200 hp and even better suspension/traction management, this should be very impressive, especially for the ring.

The old GT500 was a overpowered bruiser, just a big swinging you know what for cruising down the boulevard.
This new GT500 is closer to being more like a very powerful GT350R, complete with carbon wheel goodness and as you say DCT.

Wasnt there a lot of accusations of schenaegans with the gt500 and the zl1 at t he time? Tires, roll cage etc?
